A Blossoming Reunion: Highlights from the India Sakura Science Club Alumni Meet 2024

The air was filled with nostalgia and the promise of new beginnings as the India Sakura Science Club Alumni Association (ISSCA) gathered for a spectacular reunion on Saturday, 17th February 2024, at the elegant Regal Hall in The Lalit Hotel, Connaught Place, New Delhi. The venue echoed with the laughter and shared memories of the alumni who had embarked on a transformative journey through the Sakura Science Program in Japan in July 2023.


🌸 Inspirational Insights from Esteemed Speakers:

The event unfolded with captivating talks from distinguished personalities, each contributing their unique perspective to the gathering:

- Ms. Antara Puranik: The dynamic President of ISSCA set the tone for the evening, emphasizing the importance of fostering connections and collaboration among alumni.

- Mr. Nishimura Yasutoshi: Chairman of the Japan-India Parliamentary Friendship League (JIPFL), shared valuable insights into the strengthening bonds between the two nations.

- Mr. Ariyoshi Takashi: Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Japan in India, enlightened the audience with his thoughts on the cultural exchange and bilateral cooperation.

- Ms. Archana Sharma Awasthi: Joint Secretary, Department of School Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, emphasized the role of science education in shaping the future.

- Miss Namita Gupta: Advisor/Scientist and Head, Inspire Manak Division, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, shared her experiences and encouraged continued dedication to scientific pursuits.

- Professor Ambuj Sagar: Deputy Director Strategy and Planning at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, provided valuable insights into the strategic aspects of academic planning.

The event was not just about listening to distinguished speakers but also about reconnecting with fellow alumni. The presence of SSC members and alumni, Mr. Priyam Srivastava, Miss Disha Malik, and Mr. Rahul Sharma, added a personal touch to the gathering.

The alumni event also provided an opportunity to forge global connections. MS Sakshi Roy from the University of Tokyo India Office and Mr. Wakayama Shuhei, Director of India Office, Ritsumeikan University, added an international flavor to the evening.

A highlight of the evening was a heartwarming video message from Professor D. Sakti Kumar, Chairman of India JSPS LMR Association (IJAA) and Graduate School of Interdisciplinary New Science, Tokyo University. His words resonated with the essence of the Sakura Science Program and the enduring bond shared by the alumni.

🍰 Sweet Memories and Treats:

Beyond the enriching talks and networking opportunities, the after event held a sweet surprise. Nandani Bagga di and her brother, Varun Bagga bhaiya, exemplified the warmth of the alumni community, treated myself and my friend Ashish, to a delightful caffeine-feast. A gesture that truly embodied the spirit of camaraderie among the alumni.

As alumni who experienced the Sakura Science Program in Japan in July 2023, this reunion was a poignant reminder of the transformative journey we undertook together. The bonds forged during those days blossomed into a community that continues to thrive and inspire.
